Introduction Brief... How to stay creative

Today we were put into groups of eight and given randomly the question, 'how to maintain a positive and creative attitude'
Immediately after discussing we decided to refine the question to, 'how to stay creative'. We felt 'positive attitude' and 'creative attitude' were two very different words with broad answers. As a group we found it a difficult question as 'maintaining/inspiring creative attitude' is different to every individual, we felt it was very personal. However, we found the two main points were:
  • How is creativity inspired?
  • How is creativity maintained?
Background information:
  • It will be aimed at new and old students at Leeds College of Art, mainly Graphic Design students
  • We want information graphics on A5 postcards which can be allowed to spilt up and easily distributed to students, perhaps via freshers fair, libraries, mac suites. (basically any place of study)
  • Along with the information postcards, we would like to have a poster advertising 'how to be creative' incorporating all the things that inspire creativity.
Plan of Action:
  • Ask people what inspires their personal creativity?
  • Create thumbnail sketches of postcard and poster ideas
  • RESEARCH into what is going on the back of the postcards, whether it be a list of useful blog links, museums/galleries to visit etc.
We found out from discussing between ourselves, and our peers in the class four main points that inspired creativity were:
  • Listening to music
  • Keeping-up-to-date with magazines, blogs, books etc.
  • Visiting local art shops, galleries and museums
  • Watching videos and TV (vimeo etc)
